There’s a gap between tax accountant and small business owner that I have noticed over the years. Sometimes the gap is very wide, depending on the hubris of either party. But, what it comes down to is the tax accountant knows tax law…but they don’t know how to do business as a construction company. The construction company knows construction…but they don’t know tax law. You can put any industry in that sentence, but you get the drift.

The scenario is the same. The tax accountant yells at the business owner for not doing their books right. The business owner yells at their daughter, son, wife, teenager working part-time for minimum wage…basically whoever you can afford when no money is coming in yet.

Don’t make your loved ones want to dis-own you or make a teenager cry. Don’t be that guy. Hire a qualified bookkeeper. Even at bookkeeper fees, you are paying less for more. The accountant is happy, you are happy. All is right with the world.
